Two weeks on YouTube and I already have a great support system set in place, consisting of so many beautiful, brilliant, inspiring people who not so long ago were mere strangers to my life. Today, I feel as if I have somehow stumbled upon some really great friendships in the works. One in particular, being my very first "YouTube Bestie", amariew340. Abby, you have absolutely no idea how grateful I am to have met you! As a subscriber to your channel, I am constantly entertained, inspired by your talent, and eager to see what will come next. As your new friend, I am touched by your kindness, generosity, and the level of ease that comes along with chatting with you! I hope that no matter what life throws your way, you'll know that I am not simply a face on a computer screen. You've got a friend! This young lady is perhaps one of the loveliest, sweetest, dearest girls I have ever had the privilege of coming across. To say that I am impressed with her, is an understatement. Her smile is infectious, her kindness is genuine, and her videos are a pleasure to watch. If only I had possessed half of her confidence and beauty when I was her age! Erika, if you're reading this, please know that I think you are made of some pretty awesome stuff, girl. There is a light in you that just radiates out to those who have the honor of meeting you. I just think that everything about this little lady is fantastic! She is so cute and so funny. I have watched every single one of her videos and have enjoyed them all! When I was her age, I had a best friend who she reminds me SO much of! If YouTube had been around back then (how old is YouTube anyway?!), I am positive that she would have had a channel to discuss her thoughts on fashion and beauty too. Of course... since I know that old friend of mine won't be reading this... I can let you in on a little secret, Keely: you are 100x more fabulous! I look forward to seeing what you'll have to share with the universe as the days go by, and anyone who checks out your channel and doesn't subscribe has extremely poor taste.

I came across this cutiepie's channel while lazily scouring through a search for "haul" videos. I watched her video and thought that she reminded me a lot of myself at her age - only far more articulate and a whole lot prettier! I noticed she was brand new with only a couple of videos, but subscribed, curious to see what else she would put up. Never did I expect that this gesture would lead to her next video being a call for her viewers to subscribe to me! She wrote me asking advice on starting out on YouTube (something that I have been getting asked quite often for reasons not quite understood. I'm new too!) and I attempted to give her the best response I could... and as I feel as I send each e-mail, I felt like I wasn't any help at all. I certainly didn't expect a response. She's so young. I'm not sure I would have bothered to even say 'thank you' to a complete stranger at that age.... and yet she surprised me. Big time. Thank you, Kayla, once again, for being so incredibly sweet. I am honored to be your first subscriber, but don't think for a moment that I'll be your last!

So, after a few days on YouTube, I decided to "search" my username. I hesitantly typed it into the YouTube search bar and what I found surprised me! Clicking on an unfamiliar video, I found a lovely little girl sitting with her camera pointing at her computer screen. On that screen, my YouTube channel was displayed. My own videos appeared before my eyes and for the first time, it really hit me. Girls from all across the globe were "meeting" me. There I was, my squeaky voice and all, playing in someone's bedroom countless miles away. Aoife went on to speak some of the kindest words regarding me... a compliment that I will never deserve, and I don't think that she could possibly understand what an impact seeing that has had on my approach for making videos and continuing to put myself out there. I actually have the opportunity to be involved in a community. YouTube is allowing us to reach across the world and be there for someone who you would otherwise never have known. If I never have another subscriber – if I lose all but one and that one still wants to see something, has a question, needs advice, or just someone to call a friend or figurative big sister, I really want to make myself available. Aoife, you give me far more credit than I deserve. Your e-mails are always so lovely and put such a smile on my face. Thank you endlessly, darling.
